I am an innovative and creative designer from Finland with a solid background in online design, identity development, and user friendly interactive media. I live and drink coffee in West Seattle. But that’s just a part of it. I love to get up early in the morning and start working in my studio with the steaming fresh brew.
I was born in Kemijärvi, north Finland, near the artic circle. In my teens, I moved to Savonlinna, eastern Finland to study at Savonlinna Senior Secondary School of Art and Music. After a few years of traveling, sailing and odd small jobs I started art and media studies at TTVO aka Art and Media at TAMK. I had the opportunity to work for Nokia’s Research Center as a Screen and Interface Designer where I worked on projects with Interactive TV, mobile UI, 3D-modelling and VRML worlds. I earned my Masters degree from Medialab, (Aalto University) in Helsinki while working for MTV Europe in London where I worked as a visual interface and interactive tv designer. I met my future husband Eric in London and in late 2004 we moved to West Seattle, where we and our 5-year old son Oskari live in a old wooden house with wonderful and fun-loving neigbours.
I like:
- long walks and digging in the garden like any 40+ lady should
- milk in my coffee, sugar in my bowl and tequila in my OJ
- planning, scetching and scheming, often on unrealistic home renovations
- saying: “Punk is back. Start fu**ing swearing.”
I dislike:
- cars, tunnels, bridges and underground parking
- musicals, stereotypes and excel files
- long dark muddy winters, runny noses and wet socks
- hearing: “One size fits all.” It never does
- love and hate: color mauve
